Schedule of Events

  • open - People are arriving and settling in. Sometimes a group will go to our sledding spot and do some "grooming" which usually includes building a jump.
  • sign up and pay for lift tickets - See pricing below. Please, please, please get signed up by Friday morning. Saturday morning is a frenzy of everyone getting ready to go to the slopes. In the midst of all this we need to have a completed list faxed or e-mailed to Jackson Hole Mountain Resort of everyone purchasing tickets on our group discount.
  • sledding until 4:00 or 5:00 (starting as early as anyone is ready) - If you arrive after all the groups have left we will either give you directions to where everyone is or take you there. Four wheel drive is needed to get to the sledding spot. Lunch and or snacks will be sent with the sledders.
  • supper - Dinner at Cliff and Loretta's
  • recreational activities 6:00 - 10:00 - TBD

  • skiing/snowboarding 9:00 - 4:00 - Skiing at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort - The first group will leave at 8:00AM. You should be in this group if you need to rent equipment. The group leader (usually Cliff or Kenneth) will be in this group. He will get the lift tickets and have them ready to hand out when you arrive. We will let you know who the group leader is and where to meet him. If you can not make it to the resort by 9:00 or a little after, let the group leader know so that he is not kept waiting and you can make arrangements for getting your ticket(s).
  • lunch picnic 12:30 PM - Lunch picnic in the parking lot of the JH Mountain Resort. Everyone is welcome to join us for a lunch of sandwiches, snacks and drinks.

Travel and Weather

The weather in March can be very varied. Some years we have had very warm days, in the 40s with slushy snow. Other years it has been snowy and in the 20s. The good news is that the -30° nights are over for the winter. The roads around Jackson are usually clear and mostly dry, but watch for small patches of black ice, especially in shady spots in the morning before the temperatures warm up. We may have fresh snow fall. While the roads to Jackson are usually good in March, the roads can get bad if a storm system moves through. To check travel information on the internet, here is a link to the Wyoming Travel Information page. To jump straight to a map, here is that link: Wyoming Road Report map. You can view a text report of Closures and Advisories here. Check the weather before you leave or give us a call while you are on the road and we will let you know what the conditions are.

The nights in March still drop down to zero and below, so bring a warm coat, hat and gloves. If you plan on playing in the snow (skiing, snowboarding, sledding, etc.) bring extra hat and gloves because you will usually get wet. For skiing and snowboarding on Saturday, plan on dressing in layers. Cotton clothing is bad for outdoors in the winter. Synthetics and wool are good choices. It is usually cool in the morning and warm in the afternoon, so you can remove some layers to keep from overheating. The cold here is very different from the cold many other places (like Oklahoma). There is seldom any wind, the humidity is always low, and when the sun is shining, it can be very comfortable even in the 20s.
